Owner-Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP)

Commonly referred to as a “wrap up,” an Owner-Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP) can provide substantial savings to the overall cost of a large construction project.

An OCIP is a single insurance program that provides certain coverages for job site construction risks of the owner, construction manager, general contractor, and subcontractors. It should be considered for any project with expected hard costs of $50 million or above.

The Alliant OCIP Approach: Manage Risks and Provide Greater Control

OCIP Services

Optimizing Your OCIP Program

With well over $6 billion in construction hard costs insured under our wrap-up programs, the specialty construction team at Alliant Insurance Services has the experience and skills needed to customize the right insurance program for your project. We actively connect with you during the project pre-construction phase, efficiently execute the program during construction, and use our innovative techniques and technologies to diligently follow through after the project is completed. This comprehensive approach enables us to maximize the OCIP to manage your risks and provide greater control over total construction costs while enhancing overall project safety.

OCIP Coverage Placement

Our OCIPs typically include the traditional primary coverages of workers’ compensation, commercial general liability, and excess liability. In addition, ancillary coverages such as builders risk, pollution, accidental death and dismemberment, excess auto liability, project professional liability, or owner’s protective professional indemnity can be added to the program if needed.

  • A claims program that reduces costs and facilitates quick claims closure

Meeting Your Unique Construction Insurance Needs

The Alliant OCIP team understands that all construction projects are not created equally. Just as you would not build your project with blueprints designed for a different project, we will not design your insurance program based upon another owner’s risks or with boilerplate policies.

Through effective communication with you from the early stages of the pre-construction phase, we will design a customized insurance and loss control program to meet the individual risks of your project, as well as tailoring administrative services to manage and operate your OCIP program with streamlined efficiency throughout the course of construction and into project completion.
